Special programs
Throughout the academic year, the school invites outside groups or speakers to address the students. Some of these include:
StarLab Planetarium:
In May 2004, StarLab visited HFS. It is an inflatable 16-foot igloo-shaped dome which is truly a portable planetarium fieldtrip using a variety of cylinders to create different programs for grade K-12 student audiences. Our students saw the night sky as the Native American tribes saw them and learned about their legends. This was part of the school wide social studies unit focusing on the Bicentennial Celebration of Lewis & Clark.
Lewis & Clark – Discovering America:
“Lewis & Clark – Discovering America” is performed by Duet Productions. Based on the actual journals of Lewis & Clark, the play combines humor and history to teach the significance of the expedition.
