Leavenhouse Lunch Program
Volunteer to help with the
Leavenhouse Lunch Program
We are starting up our Leavenhouse Lunch program again this year.
Tuesday, November 11 is our first collection date. (Note that the
usual day is the second Wednesday).
For parents new to the school, let me explain the program. Leavenhouse,
as you may know, is a Camden based soup kitchen and shelter that
provides a number of needed services. HFS participates in a couple
of ways; for now, Ill only address one lunch program.
Once a month we send donated bag lunches.
If you wish to participate
- prepare a bag lunch (preferably with your child)
- mark the bag #2 and send it to school on November 11
Fifth graders will collect the bags in the classrooms before Meeting
for Worship, and a volunteer will ferry them to Leavenhouse for
distribution. (These lunches are refrigerated for use the next day
so please do not pack food that becomes soggy, such as peanut butter
& jelly or tuna salad sandwiches.)
This years collection dates are: Nov. 11, Dec. 10, Jan. 14,
Feb. 11, Mar. 10, Apr. 14, May 12. And we will send you routine
reminders a day or so before each collection date.
Note: We are still looking for volunteers
to ferry lunches to Leavenhouse this year. If this project speaks
to you, please give Tracy Carpenter, coordinator of this project,
a call at 546-7502 or email her at tef_c@fast.net.
Also be sure to arrive on time as late lunches wont be included
in the delivery to Leavenhouse.
